Green Lake International Student Program

Green Lake School is on Youtube!

Summer Programs

Dear Parents:

Research has shown that many students lose the equivalent of one to two months of reading and math skills
during the summer. This learning loss can have a long-term effect on overall academic success. To help
keep our students practicing their reading and math skills during the summer Green Lake will be offering
summer school for elementary students in grades K-6. We are very happy to announce that this year,
summer school will again run in partnership with the Green Lake City Rec Program. Summer school will
run from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM with the Summer Rec program running from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Additional
information on both programs will be following soon.

Grades K- 6 Summer Camp, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM, June 18-July 27, with a week break because of the 4 th
of July. This will include reading, math, crafts, athletic camps, games and outdoor adventures. Summer
Camp will be Monday – Thursday and Fridays will be designated as field trip days. Details on field trips will
be in the summer school and summer recreation packet.

We would like to encourage you to sign your student up for a summer of fun and learning. All classes will be
assigned according to the student’s grade during the 2012-2013 school year.

Please return the bottom section to your student’s classroom teacher by May 25, 2012. We will not be
allowing kids to sign up on June 18th! It is very hectic on the first day and we will not be able to allow
applications to be processed that day.We need to know numbers of students that will be attending so we
can plan accordingly for the summer school program.

If you have questions please call Rachael Ryf at 294-6411 ext. 116 or email ryfr@glsd.k12.wi.us.

Sincerely,

Rachael Ryf
Summer School Director
